Bottom Dollars: A Rooted in Rights Original Documentary Public Screening

Nearly 250,000 people with disabilities in the U.S. are being paid less than minimum wage, sometimes as little as $2 an hour, by applying for an exception to the Fair Labor Standards Act that applies exclusively to workers with disabilities.
Disability Rights Nebraska will be hosting a free screening of the documentary Bottom Dollars, a documentary from Disability Rights Washington that describes how people with disabilities are paid sub-minimum wage due to the disability exception to the labor standards. Through personal stories and expert interviews with advocates, the film intends to empower advocates and policymakers looking at the needs of workers and to start focusing on giving workers with disabilities a fair wage and inclusive employment.
The screening will be held September 20, 2018, from 6:00 -7:30 PM, in the 5th Floor Conference Room of the Lincoln Community Foundation building. Doors open at 6:00, with the movie starting at 6:30 PM. The Lincoln Community Foundation is located at 215 Centennial Mall South, Lincoln, NE. The conference room is directly across from the elevators. The screening is free and open to the public, although we would ask that you register here first. Light refreshments will be available.
